A Game with a difference !

Many thanks to John Downham for allowing us to use his report froma recent game between Caldy and Vale of Lune:

Caldy v Vale of Lune 2nd XV – Caldy played Vale of Lune recently in a 2nd XV game.

Vale turned up with 11 players so per NOWIRUL league rules Caldy could only field 12 players which meant Caldy would have had 10 players sat on the bench.
Both captains / coaches agreed to mix the teams up. Which meant there was 5 players from Vale playing for Caldy and 6 players from Vale playing for their own team.

All the rest of the players were made up of Caldy players to make it 15 v 15 which meant there was only 3 players sat on the bench. All players played a minimum of 40 mins.

The Caldy team was split down the middle, it never crossed their minds to give Vale the weaker players.

Both teams then enjoyed a lot of beers in the club house watching the England V Japan game as the players had agreed to KO earlu in order to watch the game.

Sometimes the game is more important than the RESULT!
