Belated Presentation of Lions Cap !

Alan 'Ned' Ashcroft is pictured here proudly wearing his Cap that was belatedly awarded to him by Ray French at a recent Presentation event. He is pictured here at Waterloo RUFC where he attended a pre match lunch.
Alan 'Ned' Ashcroft was born on 21st August in 1930. He played for Cowley GS , RAF, St Helens, Waterloo. Barbarians, Lancashire, England and the British Lions.
'Ned' played 16 times for England between 1956 and 1959 and toured with the Lions in 1959 playing in all tests. He captained Lancashire in 1960/61 and was an Art Master at Liverpool College. He was a Past Vice President of Lancashire and was a Co Founder of the Lancashire Coaching Committee in 1970, Lancashire being the first CB to take coaching seriously.
