Lancashire Girls U18's North Champions

In four consecutive matches Lancashire girls , with no previous match experience this season moved from good to absolutely awesome rugby.

First up opponents Cheshire , a young side , stood up to constant Lancashire attacks manfully , but with Sadie Giles leading a pack of real class forwards it was only a matter of time , eventually debutante Carys Marsh crossed in the corner for the first score of the day.

The backs were able to sit back and call the appropriate moment to unleash their pace and skill as the forwards produced a series of searing runs and quick ball from phase after phase. Great credit must go to Cheshire players Jess Johnston and Issy Worsley who held together a young team , who continued to tackle and defend manfully , never taking a backward step.

Next up were Northumbria who put in solid resistance and a series of superb counter attacks which led to the only try conceded by the Lancs girls on the day.

Yorkshire offered the next threat , a side itself containing some real talent , the aggressive running and ferocious last ditch tackling by Zoe Aldcroft prevented Lancashire posting a cricket score.

Aptly the final match of the day was on the first team pitch and Cumbria/Durham were the opponents.Having lost several key players through injury, they were not able to offer the resistance they had earlier in the tournament.

Despite Air Ambulances , para medics and the like , there were no long term injuries and a great day was had by all.
