Yorkshire U18 Girls 0 v 55 Lancashire U18 Girls

A highly physical but fair game at Heath saw Lancashire confirm their pre eminent position in Northern Rugby.

Despite the loss of key players to Senior Ladies , Captain Sally Stott lead the side to a brilliant victory.

The muddy conditions meant the makeshift pack , including two centers , would have to win and distribute quick ball to the talented back line to get a result.

With Captain Stott at 8 and Hartpury second row Morrissey at 7 there was always going to be fireworks and in the first five minutes of the game there were several surging runs and Samoan type hits .

On a day and pitch not conjusive to open running rugby, Lancashire showed their skills and pace and class winning this encounter 55-0. Tries by Sally Stott 2, Aimee Wallace 2 and two conversions, Rachael Woosey, Lydia Hughes, Hannah Madden 2, Molly Morrissey, Holly Aitchison three conversions.
Lancashire scored 9 tries and 5 conversions. Yorkshire to their credit competed throughout the game, looking to snuff any attack that Lancashire begun, however, if the forwards could not score the points the backs could. Strong runs form Captain Sally Stott, Molly Morrissey, ably supported by fellow forwards Amy Stanley, Lydia Hughes, Lydia Cowell, Charlie Wilcox.
Lancashire's defence was equally good as the score suggests, it was not that Yorkshire did not mount attacks against the red rose county, it was that the tackling and counter rucking was good. This was highlighted by Claudia Dowdeswell, Hannah Curran who worked tirelessly in attack and defence. The Lancashire backs showed pace and skill to support their forwards and create their own chances to score, Holly Aitchison, Alishia Sharples and Emma McCartney to the fore.
In defence the backs showed a steely approach preventing Yorkshire from mounting any scoring opportunities Emma McCartney, Alishia, Rachael and Aimee leading the way. Good attacking runs from Hannah Madden and Rachael Woosey produced scores for Lancashire, Rachael showing her pace rounding the Yorkshire fullback to score under the posts , the score could have been far higher apart from numerous try saving tackles from the Yorkshire 15.
As Lancashire rung the changes the same pattern emerged, hard work from Amy Harling, Nicole Boardman, Leah Calton-Morley, Steph Berry, Hannah Marland, katie Purcel and Elly Wallwork. Ensured that Lancashire maintained a clean sheet in defence and scoring tries in attack.
The North Selectors who were present at the game have food for thought on decisions to make for their selections for the divisional trials ahead in February.
